Preclinical dentistry (Z2)

The third year of the programme focuses on teaching practical skills in the various dental disciplines. To this end, you will complete various phantom and propaedeutic courses in prosthetics, tooth preservation, dental surgery and orthodontics.

The course content prepares you for the clinical courses in the third stage and is covered in the second stage of the dental examination.

The prerequisite for participation in courses in the preclinical study section is passing the first section of the dental examination.

The preclinical study section includes the following courses:

  • Practical course in dental conservation on a phantom
  • Practical course in dental prosthetics on the phantom
  • Practical course in orthodontic propaedeutics and prophylaxis
  • Practical course in dental-surgical propaedeutics and emergency medicine
  • Radiological internship
  • Cross-sectional area of scientific work
  • Cross-sectional area - health sciences.

Categorisation into occupancy groups (tracks) from the 3rd year of study

In order to avoid bottlenecks, especially in the small courses, you will be divided into two enrolment groups (tracks) in the 3rd year of study. Tracks 3.1 and 3.2 do not build on each other, but run parallel to each other. This means that you keep your track for the entire academic year. If you start the academic year in track 3.1, you will therefore take the continuation of the same track in the following semester. This means that all students complete the same blocks during the 3rd academic year - just in a different order.

Second intermediate dental examination (Z2 examination)

You complete the preclinical study phase with the second section of the dental examination (Z2 examination). Essential prerequisites for admission to the Z2 examination are

Regular and successful participation in the

  • Practical course in dental conservation on the phantom
