Clinical dentistry (Z3)

Study years 4-5

The clinical study phase is divided into the first and second clinical study year. You will complete the following content in the first clinical year:

  • Integrated treatment courses I and II
  • Surgical course I
  • Practical course in orthodontic diagnostics and therapy I.

In the second clinical year, you will complete the following content:

  • Integrated treatment courses III and IV
  • Operative course II
  • Practical courses in dental diagnostics and treatment planning I and II
  • Internships in the clinic/polyclinic for dental, oral and maxillofacial diseases I and II
  • Practical training in orthodontic diagnostics and therapy II.

You will also gain an insight into the following dental/medical cross-sectional areas: Emergency Medicine, Pain Medicine, Medicine and Dentistry of Ageing and the Elderly, Clinical Materials Science, Oral Medicine and Systemic Aspects, Diseases of the Head and Neck. The clinical dentistry section of the programme also includes courses in the following subjects: Pathology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Hygiene/Microbiology/Virology, Ethics and History of Dentistry and Medicine, Internal Medicine including Immunology, Otorhinolaryngology, Dermatology and Allergology, Professional Studies and Practice Management. You must also successfully complete an elective subject from the clinical electives offered.
